Macrame Flower
April Showers bring macrame flowers
Follow along with this tutorial (and video!) and make this double macrame flower.
Supplies:
Ruler
Macrame board -Cork board with push pins or a table with tape work too!
Scissors
Macrame brush - fine pet brush
Macrame Cord - 100% cotton cord single strand
Measurements:
To make the inner white flower pircuted above. Each petal is made with 5 strands of cord @36” each. There are 5 petals in total. Plus one strand @40” for the gathering knot.
To make the outer pink flower pictured. Each petal is made with 7 strands of cord @40” each. There are7 petals to make an outer flower (But this size also works great as a solo large flower with 5 petals).
One additional cord (around 36”) is also needed for the gathering knots and scrap cord for the tassel.
Directions:
To make the white petal. Start with cutting your cord. Your lead cord in the center of your board (or a use a small piece of tape). Attach 4 more cords to the lead using a clove hitch knot.
Repeat the clove hitch knot two more times on each side creating 6 total rows for the petal. On the last row, gather the cord to clean up the ends with a gathering clove hitch knot.
Once you have created the desired amount of petals, create a simple tassel using any color of your choice. (Make sure you create a long stem of the tassel to help you later).
Secure the petals and tassel with a gathering knot. Don’t worry if it is a little messy. Once the knot is secured pull each individual piece tight (this may take a minute). Pull and shape the flower.
Repeat the steps to make the larger pink flower instead using 7 pieces of cord and 8 rows of clove hitch knots.
