Vanilla Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar - Turbinado is my favorite for the extra hints of molasses
1-2 tablespoons vanilla - vanilla bean paste is my favorite but vanilla extract works great too
Directions:
Combine 1 cup water with one cup sugar in sauce pan. Stir together and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and add desired vanilla. (1 heaping tablespoon should do the trick)
Stir to combine and let cool
Transfer to jar of choice, let cool, and store in the fridge.
Stored in the fridge in an airtight container can last up to one month.
Once you have masted this you can tackle any simple syrup. They all start with the same 1:1 water sugar ratio and then add your flavoring on top. Some fun syrups to try would be rosemary, thyme, rose, blackberry, jalapeno, and combos of fruits and herbs and spices. Cady Heron put it best, “The limit does not exist!”
